Bio
Originally from Oklahoma, Ernie Morgan had done his Masters at Mills College in electronic music. He then came to UCSD in 1971 where he worked with the Buchla synthesizer, as well as playing saxophone, and studying composition. He worked with Pauline Oliveros and Roger Reynolds, and collaborated as WEB Trio with Bruce Rittenbach and Warren Burt. He played in the Psych Pop group Strawberry Alarm Clock and then taught music to elementary school children in the San Diego City Schools for over twenty years. He was a dedicated surfer almost his entire life, and while surfing off Oceanside, California, had a heart attack and died in 2016, aged 71.
After his passing, his widow, Mary Morgan, sent reel to reel tapes to Warren Burt, containing recordings Ernie Morgan made at UCSD in 1971-1975 on an original Buchla 100 analog synthesizer.
