Bio

Joachim Stiller is one of many monikers used by visual artist and experimental musician Mees Joachim, whose name is derived from a character from a book by Hubert Lampo, namely ‘De komst van Joachim Stiller’, from which Mees’ middle name is derived as well.

The artist has been using the Joachim Stiller moniker for many moons, though the name was only used for a series of performances, a documentary and DJ-sets prior to the release of [r=29239720] in late 2023, a project in collaboration with Absolute Candor, which was their first outing of original music as Joachim Stiller.

April 2024 saw the release of Joachim Stiller's debut album [r=30513193], which was released on and by the Bad Boy Jesus Tape Club (BBJTC). The album emerged from remnants of the soundtrack from a cancelled videogame and a shelved space-jazz album and were reformed as a 45 minute ambient-synth opera about 'the many states of water and what lays within'. The exhuberantly long track titles, though curtailed on streaming services, function as little vignettes to paint a scene around the audio.
