Bio

Ephraim Wegner, born in 1980, has been working as a freelance musician, composer and media artist since 1997.

The main focus of his work lies in the combination of imaging processes and digital sound generation taking into account different input media. Wegner works in the programming languages c++, Java, JavaScript, Python, OpenGL, Csound or Pure Data and develops programs that are used on various end devices in musical improvistions, algorithmic and notated compositions, interactive installations or experimental computer games.

Since graduating from the KHM in spring 2013, he has also been teaching the technical and aesthetic knowledge he has acquired over the years in an academic environment. After teaching assignments at the HFU Furtwangen and the Hochschule Offenburg, he is an academic assistant at the Hochschule Offenburg where he is in charge of the laboratory for media ecology, which he established together with Prof. Daniel Fetzner. In addition, Ephraim Wegner holds a chair in Computer Science at the hKDM Freiburg, where he teaches students on topics such as simulation and shaders, machine learning and mobile app development as part of his professorship for Audiovisual Informatics & Game Design.

He collaborated with numerous other musicians, ensembles, festivals and institutions, among others: Institut für Neue Musik / MHS Freiburg, Institut für Alte Musik / HFK Bremen, Institute for Computer Music and Sound Technology / ZHdK Zürich, the Exzellenz-Cluster BrainLinks-BrainTools / Albert Ludwig University Freiburg, Cochlear Implant Centrum / Freiburg University Clinic. Performances took place, e.g. in ars acoustica broadcast (SWR2), as part of the festival Acht Brücken in Cologne or at the Donaueschinger Musiktage.
