Ai/mB

Ai/mB is the collaborative project of Welsh electronic artist Min-Y-Llan (Martin Boulton) and Swedish producer Anders Ilar, created as a space for slow‑burning experimentation, emotional depth, and textural exploration. The name reflects the duo’s shared fascination with ambiguity, duality, and the blurred edges between the organic and the synthetic.
Working across ambient, downtempo, and left‑field electronica, Ai/mB focuses on atmosphere over genre, weaving together analogue warmth, digital detail, and a sense of quiet narrative. Their music often leans toward introspective soundscapes, melodic fragments, and evolving rhythmic structures that reward deep listening.
The project’s debut album, The Oracle Tree, emerged from a year‑long creative exchange between Wales and Sweden. Built from traded stems, reworked sketches, and intuitive improvisation, the album reflects the duo’s shared instinct for mood, restraint, and emotional resonance. Ai/mB’s sound sits comfortably alongside the more contemplative corners of IDM and ambient electronica, while maintaining a distinct identity shaped by both artists’ long‑standing individual practices.
