Bio

Mehmet Aslan is a Swiss musician, producer, DJ and graphic designer of Swiss and Turkish heritage, born and raised in Basel and based between Basel and Berlin. He creates much of his own artwork, and his music builds electronic, club-rooted tracks from folkloric and global sources into one distinct voice.

He started out with residencies at Hinterhof in Basel and Renate in Berlin. His first edits and original compositions were released by Huntleys + Palmers, followed by releases on Permanent Vacation, Dischi Autunno and Basel's Planisphere Editorial, which issued his debut album The Sun Is Parallel. As a compiler, he put together Senza Decoro: Liebe + Anarchia / Switzerland 1980–1990 for Strut, a collection of Swiss new wave and post-punk rarities.
