Jerry Berkers

Dutch guitarist, bassist and singer in the Krautrock era, born December 14, 1947 in Brunssum, Netherlands; died around 1988 in Brunssum, Netherlands.
He started to play guitar and bass in 1959 and played in local Rock'n Roll bands in the 1960's. With the Luxemburg-based show band "The Rainbows", he toured through Australia and in Vietnam, where they played for GIs in middle of the Vietnam war. This chapter turned out to be fateful for Jerry and later led him into depression.
In 1971, he went to Mönchengladbach and joined the Krautrock band "Blitzkrieg", which was renamed in 1972 to Wallenstein, where he played bass and was the second vocalist. His traumatic memories of Vietnam and the simultaneous consumption of LSD made Berkers more and more to a non-reliable bandmate.
In 1972, he recorded a solo album and one single (folky, psychedelic spiced Rock), was part of the first Wallenstein album and took part at the "Kosmische Kuriere" sessions, a music experiment of musicians, jammin on LSD trips.
After this short period, Berkers quit the band and returned to Holland. He was found dead by overdose in the late 1980's in his home town.
