Alexandros Tsotsos

Alexandros Tsotsos is a multifaceted music producer and DJ.

His sound has always been shaped by the places he’s lived and the people he’s encountered. Living in Berlin taught him the art of minimalism, while his years in London during the ’90s rave explosion also had a great impact on his musical perception. During a time when acid house, uk bass, jungle, 2-step and DnB were taking over the streets and warehouses. The raw energy of London’s underground, a multicultural melting pot and the DIY rave scene left a lasting imprint on his sound. His influences are vast, but what sets him apart is his ability to fuse these sounds into something uniquely his that resonates globally.

Alex’s rise in the global electronic scene began with early support from DJs like Danny Tenaglia, who championed the track "GummiHz - Desire" in his "Futurism" mix on Tommy Boy. In 2015, the endorsement of Derrick May and Transmat marked a game-changing moment in his career. His debut album “Sleepless Nights” (Mobilee / 2010) marked him as a major force on the global stage, with his follow-up releases pushing his sound even further. His second album, “Prime Sequences”, dropped on Claap records in 2022 and cemented his place as a producer who’s constantly evolving – creating complex, deep, and genre-defying music that moves effortlessly between experimental and accessible.

In 2020, during the global pandemic, he took to his studio for a special live-streamed session called “GummiHz presents Quaradance”, as an act of solidarity for his fans and fellow clubbers in isolation. The live stream was a way to keep the connection alive during a time of lockdowns, offering up deep, soul-soothing tunes that transported viewers back to the dancefloor. It was his way of taking care of the community while everyone was stuck at home, showing that no matter the distance, music can bring people together.

Alex is also the founder of the labels, Claap records and C-EDITS, each reflecting different sides of his musical identity. Claap, launched in 2010, became a hub for music that oscillates between contemporary house, and techno, while C-EDITS is where he started making waves with his soulful reworks, notably his re-edit of Duke’s “So In Love With You”, which became an underground global hit and ended up getting published by Sony Music UK as an official remix of the original song, along with remixes by Full Intention.

For Alex, music is a way to connect, to explore, and to bring people together. "In the hands of some operatorw, DJ sets can trigger near-religious experiences," he says. His constant push to innovate has led him to embrace modular synths, adding new layers of depth to his sound. His vinyl-only "Groove is in the Hertz" series on Claap and his recent jam session with EURORACK module manufacturer IO Instruments are proof of this evolution, as he continues to expand his performance skills. With years of experience and a passion for pushing boundaries, Alex recently launched Alphawaves, a new project focused on deep, immersive atmospheres and cutting-edge rhythms. His debut release dropped in June 2024 on Lowpass recordings.

As he continues to evolve, one thing’s for sure: his journey is far from over. "I’m always experimenting, always evolving," he says. "For me, music is a conversation with the future." Looking ahead, he’s got a ton of exciting projects in the works. Alex remains one of electronic music’s most multi-layered and adventurous talents.
