Klaus Dinger

German musician and songwriter, born 24 March 1946 in Scherfede, Germany, died 21 March 2008 in Zeeland, Netherlands. Brother of Thomas Dinger, son of Heinz Dinger and Renate Dinger.
Dinger starts to play drums in a schoolband called "Swing Combo" in 1963 and later in another band called "The No". In 1966 he starts to study architecture, but drops studying in 1969. In 1970, he joins Kraftwerk as a drummer. After being sacked at Kraftwerk, he and his ex-bandmate Michael Rother form a new band in 1971, called artist 12636, one of the most influential bands in 1970's electronic music.
Dinger and Rother were more and more two distancing personalities and after their 1975 album, the band "Neu!" split. Dinger didn't want to play drums anymore, and so for his next project La Düsseldorf, he changes to guitar and synthesizer. In 1982, the band is recording their 4th album. In 1983, while recording, Dinger falls out with the record company. Many years of legal dispute cause, that none of the materials and the band can be continued by any of the former bandmates.
For many more years, Dinger is active as musician and producer with a studio in Zeeland, The Netherlands. In 2008, he dies there from a heart attack, while preparing the album "Japandorf".
