Geert Coppens

Belgian musician, electric bass player in the New Wave era.
In 1977, he co-founded his brainchild The Micrart Group as a non-profit organisation together with classmate Peter Bonne. Both played music together, which finally ended up in the Belgian genre forming New Wave band Autumn, which existed from 1980 to 1984.
Geert and Peter did prolific song recording, but as Geert wanted to experiment with other music genres, he co-founded the side project Twilight Ritual in 1982, which he again made with Peter Bonne.
Due to practical reasons, as both moved to different cities, the music collaboration ended in 1985, when Bonne continued with former classmate Marc Ickx and their new project A Split - Second. Geert was not involved in their music, but designed their artwork.
Geert stayed connected with Micrart also in the following decades. As artist, photographer, but also with new music projects as Das Cabinett and reissue projects on early Micrart releases as well as unreleased material.
