Born and raised in Madrid, I’m Carlos “Volte” Ruiz—a lifelong seeker of dark, non-commercial sounds. My journey began as a DJ in the late ’80s, spinning underground sets in Madrid’s most iconic clubs. Early on, I experimented with production in my humble home studio, armed with an Atari STE, a Kawai keyboard, an MPC 2000. In 1992, I recorded my experimental album “Initial Command,” a turning point that reshaped my vision of electronic music.
After a brief hiatus from DJing, I returned in 1998 with exclusive dark electro and industrial sessions at Heaven Club. It was during these sets that I met Marcos C, and together we formed Dioxyde—a project that resonated across Europe and beyond. In 2006, I left Dioxyde to fully embrace my personal artistic vision with Asseptic Room, releasing seminal works like Morbid Visions and later Visceralofobia.
Over the years, my passion for music has taken me from the DJ booth to the studio, collaborating with diverse artists and labels, and pushing the boundaries of dark electro and industrial sound. In 2021, I poured years of experience into the double album Extinction or Reawaken, and now, with the release of Room’s Rust & Ruins II and the upcoming album Deconstructor, I continue to explore the depths of emotion, decay, and rebirth through sound.
