Bio

Musician, producer, photographer, liner notes author and founding co-partner of Nighthawk Records. Leroy Pierson has been one of the St. Louis Blues scene's most active and productive participants. Leroy's stlyes of music cover a broad spectrum, from Reggae to Blues. Pierson learned guitar firsthand from brilliant musicians of pre-war vintage such as Mance Lipscomb, Johhny Shines, Robert Wilkins, and Fred McDowell. Pierson made long and frequent trips to rural Mississippi to study with his mentors, and the esteem which they held for him is evidenced by the fact that when Fred McDowell passed away, he willed Leroy his treasured guitar. Today Pierson uses that instrument on frequent appearance's here in St. Louis and around the world.
