Bio

**Maurizio Vitiello** is an Italian DJ and producer from Naples, Italy, whose journey through electronic music began in the late 1980s during the emergence of one of Europe's most influential underground techno movements.

Originally performing under the alias **Matrjx**, he became resident DJ at the legendary **Loose Club**, founded by **Rino Cerrone** and **Mario Manganelli**, becoming part of the generation that helped define the internationally acclaimed Neapolitan techno scene. During those years he shared stages, studios and experiences with many artists who would later become key figures in global techno, while building lifelong friendships and a deep connection with the culture that shaped his artistic identity.

His musical education extended far beyond Italy. During the late '80s and early '90s he travelled extensively across Europe, experiencing first-hand the birth of UK rave culture and the evolution of underground electronic music through iconic venues and events in Spain, Manchester, Birmingham, London, Amsterdam and Berlin. Those experiences, together with the influence of Detroit techno and the Neapolitan underground, became the foundation of his musical vision.

After years devoted to developing his own sound, Maurizio released his first productions in 2006. His music has appeared on labels including **AnalyticTrail**, **Loose Records**, **Metroline Limited**, **Rilis**, **Kombination Research**, **Circle Music**, **Praxxiz** and others. Alongside his original productions, he produced numerous remixes, including an official remix for **Rino Cerrone** on **Rilis**, a collaboration that reflected years of mutual artistic respect and friendship.

His productions led to performances throughout Italy and internationally, including Germany, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, the Amsterdam Dance Event and the United States.

Following a conscious decision to step away from music in order to dedicate time to his family, Maurizio later returned with **EMMA Project**, created together with longtime friend **Emiliano Scifoni**. More than simply another alias, EMMA Project became a tribute to the music and culture that had inspired them since the beginning. Together they founded **Smile It Music**, releasing ten records that celebrated the spirit of late '80s and early '90s electronic music while receiving the support and remix contributions of respected pioneers such as **Mark Archer** (Altern 8, Nexus 21, Bizarre Inc., Slo Moshun), **Gez Varley** (LFO / G-Man), **Dave Tarrida**, **Gerome Sportelli** and others, all united by a shared respect for underground culture rather than commercial trends.

Today Maurizio continues his artistic journey under the alias **UNVRFD**. Rather than representing a new beginning, UNVRFD is the natural evolution of more than three decades dedicated to underground electronic music. It reflects the same values that have guided his entire career: authenticity, groove, artistic independence and respect for the roots of electronic music, building a bridge between its origins and the present.

**Aliases:** Matrjx • EMMA Project • UNVRFD.
