Sohn Jamal (real name John Small) stands out as an artist that consistently pushes the limits of electronic music. He expertly combines components from numerous subgenres to produce a sound that is all his own by drawing from IDM, ambient, jazz, footwork and more to create angular and melodic worlds. His shared experience of living between Tokyo and Miami during his formative years directly informs his sound.
