Asia 2001

Goa trance project active since the early 1990s.
In 1992, Gilbert Thévenet founded Trans’Pact Productions together with his wife, Thaisha. The following year, he released the first Asia 2001 single.
Most of Thévenet’s credits on Asia 2001 recordings appear under the pseudonym Martin Cooper, alongside his Loren X project and additional aliases.
Trans’Pact primarily showcased his own productions and rapidly gained international recognition, eventually ranking as the No. 4 trance label worldwide. At the height of its success in 1997, its distributor, Flying Distribution, ceased operations, forcing Trans’Pact and its sub-labels to close.
Throughout his career, Thévenet performed at Berlin’s Love Parade and toured extensively across Europe, Israel, Canada, and the United States. He appeared at iconic venues such as Limelight and Tunnel Club, sharing the stage with artists including Carl Cox, Robert Leiner, Jeff Mills, Jennifer Lopez, and many others.
In 1997, Thévenet and Avichay Avigal, who had also been collaborating as Avatar, decided to continue Asia 2001 together on Avatar Records.
Gilbert Thévenet passed away on February 7, 2021.
Avichay Avigal continues Asia 2001 as a solo project and has recently released the album Oxygen.
