Cecilia Österholm

Swedish nyckelharpist, singer, composer, active in folk, experimental and contemporary music, born 4 May 1977 in Hofors.

She is internationally recognized for her innovative work with nyckelharpa and tenor nyckelharpa, where she has, among other things, electrified the instruments and placed them in new musical contexts.

She is one half of the award-winning duo Siri Karlsson, which operates on the border between traditional folk music, psychedelic rock and experimental art music. The duo has received SKAP's Avantgarde Prize for its artistic and genre-crossing expression.

Österholm is also a member of the folk duo Erika & Cecilia and has collaborated with several prominent Swedish musicians, including Benny Andersson.

Under the artist name Lonesome Handsome, she runs a parallel solo project where she combines American folk and roots music with literary and poetic models, from Shakespeare to Jack London, often with themes such as wilderness, freedom and friendship.
