First album "Modern Classics" by Phil Moore was released in October 1948. First 45rpm was released in January 1950. It was reactivated in the late 1970s. Masters were later purchased by Jac Holzman and artist 1036962 in November 1991.

Upon acquisition, Holzman also refashioned Discovery as a contemporary pop label. Discovery was acquired by Warner Music Group in 1993 and absorbed by Sire in 1996.
