Kiwi

The Music, Voices and Sounds of New Zealand.

Established as an offshoot of publisher label 514763 in 1957 to support the company's Maori language, physical education and folk-dancing school texts, Kiwi later expanded into folk, classical and pacific sounds plus a range of hugely successful albums of bird noises and trains. Kiwi was operated in the 1960s and early 1970s by label 808977, a division of A.H. & A.W. Reed, and then in the 1970s by label 743215, until bought in 1977 by label 524671.

This profile also incorporates entries for "Kiwi Records", a logo variant which was briefly used in the 1960s and early 1970s (see this image; not to be confused with the company label 808977).
