SUBREAL

SUBREAL is an electronic music label that focuses on unique and non-conforming musical projects. SUBREAL actively seeks out a diaspora of artists, sounds and rhythms that may have trouble defining/identifying themselves. The label encourages artists outside of, or on the fringes of, culture(s) to create and map their own singular musical realities. Based between Mexico City and Los Angeles, SUBREAL was created by Mexican producer Marco Polo Gutierrez (Siete Catorce) and Korean-American producer Stella Ahn (Amazondotcom) in 2018. Disinterested in the Western canon but unable to deny its pervasive influence, both artists wish for underrepresented musical communities to carve out their own “sub-realities,” singularities, and differences, eating away at boundaries and setting up new musical conditions.
