Blackground Records

American record label focussing on hip hop / black music. Owned by entertainment attorney and artist manager artist 348491 and his son artist 171166, Blackground was initially founded in 1993 as label 70430 to release music by artist 348491's niece, Aaliyah. Named label 10386 until 2000, it switched distribution deals over time - releases were distributed by Jive, Atlantic, Virgin, Universal, Interscope and Reservoir Media.
In 2021 revamped to label 2540734 under Empire, then Warner distribution.
Please look up the logo on a specific release carefully to distinquish which one of these three labels should be used.
