Dionysus Records

Garage, rockabilly, surf, punk, exotica label originally based in Burbank, California, founded at the end of 1983 by artist 544148. The label started as label 87707 as an extension of a cassette-only label run out of the Roads to Moscow record store in Tucson, Arizona, 1981-83. In 1984, Lee moved to Los Angeles and, with the help of Suzy and artist 2362939 at BOMP!, established the Dionysus Records label. In 2013, the label relocated to Joshua Tree, CA. Their warehouse location was changed in late 2018.

Circa 1992, most vinyl lacquers for Dionysus Records (including sublabels Bacchus Archives, label 156508, and Hell Yeah) were cut at label 1524601 in Culver City, CA, by artist 544158, where the mastering and lacquer cutting facilities are often referred to as label 433344 or HRS Studios. Pressing was handled by Alberti Record Manufacturing Company, then Erika Records, and now primarily by label 100643. Some releases may have been pressed at label 267029 (eventually purchased by United), label 238322, or label 66254. After relocating to Joshua Tree, all process steps were handled by label 100643.
