The San Francisco record label is an offshoot of The Cubby, a San Francisco art collective active in the late 1990s/early 2000s. The Cubby collective self-released music as The Cubby Creatures, the Embryo Compilations (of homemade music by Bay Area artists), and most recently as The Cubby Preachers. Cubby Control Records continues the tradition of releasing independent music independently.
