Info
Boxcopy was an Australian artist‑run initiative based in Meanjin/Brisbane. Active from 2007 to 2020, it supported experimental and emerging artists through exhibitions, talks, and small publishing projects. The organisation played a steady role in Brisbane’s independent art community, working with many early‑career artists who later became established. Artists included Sam Cranstoun, Archie Moore, and Elizabeth Willing.
In 2019, Boxcopy ran Sound Offering, a program where exhibiting artists created new sound works for a series of live events. Each performance was recorded and produced as a lathe‑cut edition of twenty‑five. Six titles were made, but none were released at the time.
Five years later, the recordings were rediscovered and compiled into a complete set. The works were then issued on Discogs as Sound Offering I–VI, each as a 12-inch, 33⅓ RPM stereo record under the Boxcopy label. The series documents a moment in Brisbane’s experimental scene and preserves the cross‑disciplinary nature of the original program.
