Info

RadioValve was among the first generation of webcasters, developed in 1997 by David Fodel, Brian Comerford, and Brian Kane. Billed as "24-Hour Techno Internet Radio," the pioneering Internet Radio station had a rotation of 23 original programs throughout the week, with numerous hosts from across the globe, special features, artist interviews, live event streams from raves and clubs, and copious continuous DJ mixes from international artists and labels. Once hailed by Wired Magazine as "the loudest station on the 'net," the founders developed their own station management software, integrations with music fulfillment partner Tower Records, and syndicated streams via BML's eNetronic and Yahoo Radio. Officially launched in February 1998, the station operated through 2002, developing a massive online global following in the early dot-com era. It was featured as one of the case studies in the Oxford Press publication _Web Radio: Radio Production for Internet Streaming_ by Chris Priestman. Comerford was featured as an industry expert, keynote speaker and panelist at international conferences for Digital Distribution in the Music Industry during a time when the founders' unique approach to onine retail preceded the advent of iTunes, Beatport, and even MP3. The station released two eclectic electronic music compilations, reflective of the station's sub-genre diversity and curated by its Program Director, in collaboration with online music partner, CDuctive. The partnership resulted in the short-lived RadioValve Re:Presence series, which was shelved after CDuctive was acquired by eMusic and shuttered its indepedent electronic label catalog.
