Music World

Australasian music label, founded by Hoghton Hughes in 1970. It was initially based in Christchurch, New Zealand during the 1970s and 1980s, and was eventually the successor of Master (6) although the two labels co-existed for some years. In the 1990s the parent company moved to Queensland, Australia and was based there until 2010 when Hughes moved to NSW. It is part of a complex company structure, with many sub-labels associated with the Music World label. The releases are variously credited with the New Zealand-specific company Hughes Leisure Group Ltd. (up to 2000), or more recently, label 311492, for copyright, licensing and marketing.
