Green Linnet

US Celtic music label.

Originally founded by artist 553602 and artist 1851669 as Innisfree in 1973. Wendy Newton joined as operating officer in 1975 and the label became Green Linnet. Newton took over control in 1976, became sole owner in 1978, and moved it to Danbury, Connecticut in 1985.

In the 1990s, the label launched the world music label Xenophile Records, the reissue label Celtic Classics, and the budget compilation label Celtophile.

The label was sold to Digital Music Group (DMG) in 2006, who sold the rights to distribute physical media to Compass Records Group.

Originally a division of Innisfree, Inc., the parent company later became Green Linnet Records / Green Linnet Records, Inc. Associated companies, mostly now defunct, are Green Linnet, Inc., Green Linnet Records Ltd., and publisher Green Linnet Music.
