A.R.P.H. Tapes

A.R.P.H. Tapes was run by John Gullak.
The 4 initials stand for Another Room / Public Hearing:
Another Room was the independent magazine (multiple issues came with compilation cassettes) published by John;
reporting on the Underground postpunk and experimental scene of the SFO Bay Area.
Public Hearing was the name given to weekly sound installations where John would broadcast (very loudly) experimental music through high-power public address (p.a.) systems aimed at the surrounding neighborhood and at the Nimitz double-decker freeway that was subsequently destroyed by the Loma Prieta earthquake of 1989. Concurrently, John was broadcasting via KPFA FM radio, in Berkeley, on (originally his) show "No Other Radio Network".
