Katabatik

Katabatik was essentially started by Anchorage, Alaska native Michael Buchanan in 1999
as an outlet for the group "Nommo Ogo" which he is a principal member of. After a period
of touring the US Nommo Ogo relocated to Oakland, Ca. where they set up shop at
their secret Kata-compound location. From there Katabatik quickly evolved into a
collective of like minded local electronic sound artist's who are mainly concerned with
the more esoteric and eclectic forms of electronic music production, whether it be in the form
of cutting edge electronic dance music, Avantgarde psychedelic noise rock, occult inspired
live ritual performances, or purely experimental sound excursions into the unknown realms made with DIY analog
modular devices. More recently Katabatik has dedicated itself to becoming a full time
record label devoted to releasing outstanding new material from many of the artists who have
come to associate themselves with the label on a regular basis.
