In 1969 Electric & Musical Industries Ltd. and Capitol Industries, Inc. acquired 50% of label 299509 and it was renamed Toshiba-EMI Ltd. from 1 October 1973. On 3 October 1994 Toshiba-EMI Ltd. (TOEMI) became a subsidiary of label 118508 Plc after increasing its shareholding in the company from 50% to 55% and gaining a controlling interest. In June 2007, label 1032063 acquired all remaining shares of the company and Toshiba-EMI Ltd. was subsequently renamed EMI Music Japan Inc.
